Auschwitz

It was eerily quiet, an experience that cannot really be explained. I tried to capture images that would best share the experience with you. There were several places where we were not allowed to take pictures, like where the hair that was shaved from prisoners has been preserved.

People from all over Europe all brought to Auschwitz, identified the way they saw fit; like, "so-called asocials" and "exponents of the Bible/Jehovah's witnesses"
Artist representation of the crowding. Bunks were added later in some buildings and were built into the barracks in Birkenau.

Execution Wall
 Gas Cans and Pellets

Note the # of days these people survived (date/month/year) ... Eventually the Germans stopped taking pictures and recording prisoners because there were too many to keep track of and most just went directly to the gas chambers.

The last handful of human ash found are held here in this memorial urn.

Shoes, kitchen items and suitcases. If it weren't for people putting their names on the suitcases many victims would not have been able to be identified.

The execution site of the German officer who ran Auschwitz...the only German executed here. And he and his family lived just to the right of this site, right next to the camp!!!
